Our principles guide our way of working

Our principles and accompanying habits are high level guiding principles of our ways of working for all employees. They provide employees with a common direction and are designed to help all in executing the company strategy, to contribute to the wellbeing of our employees, and to foster an inclusive culture. Business Conduct

Kemira’s Code of Conduct is the foundation for doing business in the right way across our entire company.
Our approach is based on our corporate values:

  • We are dedicated to customer success.
  • We care for people and the environment.
  • We drive performance and innovation.
  • We succeed together.

Our Code of Conduct sets the minimum standards of expected behaviour for our employees and business partners. We provide regular training and documentation in 19 languages.

Ethics and Compliance

We promote a culture that encourages our employees and stakeholders to speak freely.

We maintain an Ethics and Compliance Whistleblowing line so our internal and external stakeholders can report potential violations of Kemira’s Code of Conduct or any other concerns.

All reports made in good faith receive a fair and comprehensive investigation. Reports are treated confidentially. (SS p71)

Anti-corruption and anti-bribery

Kemira Code of Conduct and our Group Gifts, Entertainment and Anti-Bribery Policy include principles for anti-corruption. Both documents are available to all employees and the public. These principles are part of mandatory training. We regularly communicate them to employees, our Board of Directors and suppliers. (SS p68)

Integrated Management System

The Kemira Integrated Management System meets several international standards:

  • ISO 9001:2015 for Quality
  • ISO 14001:2015 for Environment
  • ISO 45001:2018 for Occupational Health and Safety

It defines the way our organization works through policies, standards, procedures, and processes. It also defines requirements and accountabilities at each level of the organization. (SS p67)

Key Policies

Kemira’s key policies guide everything we do. Our global policies and guidelines are an extension of the Code of Conduct, which serves as the foundation of the way we do business. (SS p68)

Kemira Group Code of Conduct is the foundation for doing business the right way. The Code includes Kemira values and principles set out in the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. The Code of Conduct includes strict requirements for work community, customers, suppliers, markets, society, and investors. Commitments relate to rights, anti-bribery, equal treatment, and sustainability. References to specific human rights commitments can be found in the human rights section in the Sustainability Report. Available in 19 languages.

Document articulates Kemira’s values and the principles set out in the Kemira Group Code of Conduct in supplier relationships. It integrates social, environmental, and ethical responsibilities into Kemira’s procurement processes. Key focus areas include ensuring ethical and compliant procurement practices, identifying, and managing relevant risks which share information about risks, and ensuring that business partners follow Kemira’s standards in their operations. These focus areas are shared through engagement, with formal agreements including reporting, supporting, and monitoring of procedures, compliance with international trade regulations.

Ensures compliance with product regulations and enhances chemical safety in the value chain.

Safe working conditions, preventing incidents, respecting human rights in operations, diversity, and equality. Additionally, this policy outlines Kemira’s responsibility to conduct business in a sustainable manner. Trade compliance obligations cover Kemira’s imports and exports of products, technology, and services.

All activities being aligned with Kemira Code, company values, and sustainability goals. Key supplier practices include: minimizing environmental impacts of supply chain operations, reducing emissions, waste, energy usage, and raw material inputs. Support for responsible supply chain practices, policies, and standards in operations and compliance.

Ensures Kemira conducts procurement in a socially, environmentally, and ethically responsible manner. Policy aligns procurement processes with corporate responsibility objectives, emphasizing collaboration with suppliers and continuous improvement in supply chain sustainability.

Logistics and transportation policy supports the management of Kemira’s transportation, ensuring compliance with all regulations. This includes maintaining a high level of safety, environmental compliance, and efficiency in transport operations. Supports Kemira’s sustainability goals by ensuring climate-conscious and efficient transport practices.

Outlines Kemira’s recruitment framework. A uniform approach applies to all recruitment processes, ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusion while aligning with corporate goals.

Conducting our business in compliance with all applicable tax, customs, and transfer pricing laws and regulations, in addition to Kemira’s values and Code of Conduct.

Conducting our business operations ethically, following applicable laws, and Kemira policies. Transparency and accountability are key for all situations. This includes clear boundaries for giving and receiving gifts, entertainment, and other forms of hospitality to avoid conflicts of interest.

Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws in Kemira’s operations and actively managing tax-related matters responsibly.

Outlines Kemira’s approach to sponsorships and donations. The policy encourages contributions to causes that align with company values and priorities. Initiatives focus on building partnerships for a positive societal impact while supporting Kemira’s long-term business goals.

Policy encourages everyone working for or with Kemira to report any suspicion of misconduct (violations of laws, regulations, Kemira policies, or the Code of Conduct). Misconduct reporting channels ensure confidentiality and protection from retaliation. A third-party service provider enables anonymous reporting, while Kemira ensures proper investigation and response. Retaliation against anyone reporting, in good faith, a potential violation is not tolerated. This applies to anyone, regardless of position, who engages in retaliatory behavior will be subject to disciplinary action.
