style=margin:5pxWith these words the First Deputy Mayor of the city of Dormagen, Hans Sturm, started his speech at the opening ceremony of Kemira’s newest production facility at the Chempark in Dormagen, Germany.

If the Germans think of the Finns, words like sauna or great athletes with unpronounceable names first come to their minds. But right after that, they also think of huge forests and clean lakes. And here is the direct link to Kemira, said Sturm, because that’s what Kemira finally stands for – clean water.

During the Grand Opening on October 9th, more than 100 customers, government officials, employees and partners from construction companies celebrated that, after two years of construction and commissioning, the project has been successfully completed. Important acidic and alkaline aluminum salts for drinking and wastewater treatment applications are now being produced near full capacity at the Dormagen site.

Ernst Grigat, head of the Chempark, reiterated once again the importance of the networking within such a chemical park. The strength of the location is built mainly by a powerful network of companies, called “Verbund”, illustrating the well-known saying – The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Managing Director Frank Wegener’s speech also touched on the uncertainties and challenges that the construction of the plant itself initially brought. But on Grand Opening day, all this was forgotten and even the sky was gracious and indulged the visitors with a little break during the outside plant tours.
