Kemira has established a new company in St. Petersburg to look after the sales and marketing of pulp and paper chemicals in Russia. The company, OOO Kemira HIM, will function as the main contact to customers in Russia. Sales and marketing connections will be transferred to Kemira HIM from the joint venture ZAO Kemira-Novo, which will continue to manufacture paper sizing chemicals in Arkangelsk.
Kemira HIM enables Kemira to significantly reinforce and rationalize its customer services in the growing Russian pulp and paper chemicals market. Kemira’s main customers include several major companies such as Ilim Pulp, International Paper/Svetogorsk, Arkangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill, and Mondi/Syktyvkar. The company also sells chemicals to customers in other fields of industry.
Kemira HIM has offices in St. Petersburg and Moscow as well as in Arkangelsk. At this stage, the company employs a staff of 15 persons.
Russia’s current paper and board production volume is 7.5 million tonnes per annum, pulp production 6 million tonnes per annum, and the consumption of paper and board is expected to grow at the annual rate of approx. 9%. The share of Russian trade in Kemira’s pulp and paper chemicals is growing.
